Programme Notes

This work was written in 1968, for an ABC radio programme marking the eighty-sixth birthday of Igor Stravinsky. Based upon a part of the first movement of my Balinese-inspired work, Tabuh Tabuhan, for wind quintet and percussion, it was originally known as From Tabuh Tabuhan. Following the tragic bombing in Bali, in 2002, I decided to change the title. The music now stands as a memorial to those who lost their lives.
